The Itinerary
Peggy's Cove is the iconic image of Nova Scotia: a white-and-red lighthouse on grey granite rocks meeting the Atlantic. A fishing village of 35 inhabitants, photographed more than anywhere else in Atlantic Canada.
The scenic coastal route from Halifax (Hwy 333) passes Indian Harbour and West Dover. In the village, walk the rocks (mind the waves!), browse the shop and eat lobster at deGarthe Gallery (memorial to lost sailors). The lighthouse itself is closed to the public but remains the iconic image.
