The Itinerary

Annapolis Royal (Port-Royal, 1605) is the oldest permanent European settlement in North America north of Florida. It was also the first capital of Acadia, then of Nova Scotia until 1749.

Fort Anne National Historic Site holds the ruins of the 1702 British fort. The Habitation of Port-Royal (reconstruction of Champlain and De Monts' settlement) is 8 km away. The Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens (10 hectares) are among Canada's finest. Nearby, the Annapolis Tidal Generating Station was the western hemisphere's first (1984).
